Fox Searchlight presents a film directed by Marc Forster. Written by David Benioff. Running time: 99 minutes. Rated R (language and some disturbing images).

I have only this year seen Jacob’s Ladder for the first time. Great film with wonderful performances and a haunting conclusion not unlike the Sixth Sense. I have since seen this film for the first time on two more occasions. The first was in The Jacket earlier this year and now and also much more obvious is this film.

Fine it’s stylistically well shot and your cast is first rate. Okay it’s moderately intriguing and often comical every time Ewan McGregor asks Naomi Watts for sex. But all this movie was steering us towards was this outcome that isn’t all that shocking or cathardic.

This is simply a moody and self glorifying piece of smoke and mirror trickery without the benefit of an intriguing story. And guess what, none of it ever happened. It was all in the imagination of one character. Surprised, maybe, impressed, me neither.
